Gold
v3 tokens paired with tokenized gold (XAUm). Trade in USDC, get paid in gold.
A gold-paired v3 token trades against XAUm, Matrixdock’s tokenized gold: its fees are taken in XAUm, and its holders and creator are paid in XAUm. Matrixdock states that each XAUm is backed by one troy ounce of LBMA-accredited physical gold.

Launching a gold-paired token
On the launch form, pick Gold under Pair. The form then shows the v3 settings: buy and sell fees, the anti-snipe fee, holder dividends, buyback and recipients, all described in v3 tokens. Everything else works as for any launch: the token starts at a $10,000 market cap, with no launch fee.
Your starting market cap is set in USD and converted to gold at launch, using the XAUm/USDC pool’s average price over the previous 30 minutes. An average, rather than the price of the moment, keeps a brief swing on the gold pool from setting your launch price.
Trading in USDC
You don’t need any gold to trade a gold-paired token. On ubi.fun you pay and receive USDC, and one transaction does both legs:
-
Buy: your USDC buys XAUm on the XAUm/USDC pool, and that XAUm buys the token on its own market. You can also pay in EURC or cirBTC: the same transaction swaps it to USDC on its own Uniswap pool first.
-
Sell: the token sells for XAUm, and that XAUm sells for USDC.
The quote covers every leg: the token’s fee, the gold pool’s 0.05% (plus the EURC or cirBTC pool’s fee when you pay with one) and the price impact of each. Your slippage setting protects the whole route; if the result would fall short, the transaction fails and nothing is traded.
Very large trades move the gold market as well as the token’s. If a sale brings in more gold than the XAUm/USDC pool can take at that moment, the route sells what the pool can absorb and sends the remaining XAUm to your wallet, so nothing is left behind. A buy larger than the pool’s gold spends only what the pool can fill: the rest of your USDC never leaves your wallet, and on a buy paid in EURC or cirBTC, any USDC the gold pool could not take comes back to your wallet.
Getting paid in gold
Holder dividends and creator earnings arrive as XAUm. Withdraw and claim them on the token page, as described in How holders get paid. XAUm is an ordinary token in your wallet: keep it, or swap it to USDC on the XAUm/USDC pool, for example on Uniswap.
Its dollar value moves with the price of gold. The token page shows amounts in XAUm with their approximate value in USD.
What to know about XAUm
XAUm is issued and controlled by Matrixdock, not by ubi.fun. Read live from its contract on Arc:
- It is upgradeable. Its issuer can change the token’s code through a two-step upgrade.
- It has a blocklist. The issuer can block addresses. A blocked address can’t move XAUm; if the issuer ever blocked one of the protocol’s contracts, payments through that contract would stop until it was unblocked.
- It has no pause function.
These are the issuer’s controls over its own token. ubi.fun has no control over XAUm, and the issuer has no special power over the v3 contracts or your gold-paired tokens.
